Anshika Goyal's artwork Anshika Goyal, a 5th grader at Valley Ranch Elementary, has been selected as the 1st Place Winner in the 3rd-5th Grade Category for the DART Student Art Contest. This year’s theme was “Everyday Heroes Ride DART.”

Navya Singh, 8th grader at West, tied for 2nd in the 6th-8th Grade Category in the DART Student Art Contest. Aarnav Munji, a 5th grader at Canyon Ranch Elementary and Artha Shah, a 3rd grader at Valley Ranch Elementary also placed as Honorable Mention in the contest.

Each year, DART hosts a Student Art Contest that is open to students of all grade levels throughout North Texas. Students are asked to illustrate a given theme. The only limit is their imaginations. This year’s theme, “Everyday heroes ride DART,” honors the frontline workers who have been essential in helping North Texas persevere during the COVID crisis. Students interpreted the theme with color, composition and creativity.

Goyal’s colorful drawing shows first responders riding DART while community members thank them for helping over the past year.
