Fine Arts Update October 2021

Elementary Art and Music
Art by Latish Palli from Canyon Ranch ElementaryOn Tuesday, October 12, our Art and Music teachers welcomed back their virtual learners for the first day of in-person classes. We applaud the tremendous efforts of all our Art and Music teachers for their willingness to not only teach our in-person students throughout the first 9-weeks, but also to create engaging content and work with our students in a virtual environment at the same time.

In Elementary Music, preparations are underway for the Coppell ISD Honor Choir. The concert is scheduled for Thursday, February 3, 2022, and will feature TWO Honor Choirs – one consisting of elementary students and another comprised of 6th graders from our three middle schools. Please save the date for this upcoming performance.

In Elementary Art, we want to wish congratulations to Latish Palli of Canyon Ranch Elementary for winning his classifications in the Trinity River Authority’s 2021 Art Contest. The theme of the contest was “Save your Pipes | Don’t Flush Wipes”. Latish is supported by Canyon Ranch Art Teacher Nicole McMurry.

Secondary Art
Congratulations are in order as well for two middle school artists who won their classifications in the aforementioned Trinity River Authority’s 2021 Art Contest.

Secondary Choir
On Tuesday, October 5, the Coppell HS Choirs presented a beautiful Fall Concert featuring all of the choir student-performers from Coppell HS, CHS9, and NT@C. It was a great night of live music, and the first in-person Choir concert since early 2020. Thanks to Choir Directors Bona Coogle and Aaron Coronado for their excellent work with our students, and to middle school directors Lauren Danby, Allison Hartzell, and Sarah Nordgren for starting these students on their musical journey. Take a look at the performance calendar (linked below) for upcoming middle school and high school Choir concerts.

Secondary Dance and Cheer
CheerOur Cheerleaders and Lariettes continue to impress in supporting our Coppell Cowboys every Friday night. They’ve had a great season so far, and we look forward to many more engaging performances as we finish out the 2021 Football season.

The Lariettes recently travelled to learn from and perform with the historic Kilgore College Rangerettes. The girls spent the day learning choreography from the talented team and then performed at the game. To see more, you can check out the video on YouTube by clicking HERE.

Secondary Theatre
The Coppell HS Theatre Department just wrapped up a production of 30 Movies in 60 Minutes – a comedic romp through movie history with some awesome audience engagement. Thanks for all who came to join us in the Lecture Hall for this performance.

The Coppell HS Theatre program will be presenting Stephen Gregg’s TRAP on October 22 and 23rd at 7:00pm in the Coppell HS Black Box Theatre. This show is a wonderful supernatural thriller that our community will enjoy.
