Band Takes 3rd at BOA Super Regionals, Community Showcase Nov. 3
The Coppell Varsity Marching Band placed 3rd at the Bands of America Super Regionals competition held in St. Louis on Oct. 22-23 amidst a highly competitive field. The Band will perform a free community showcase of its competition performance Carousel on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Buddy Echols Field at Coppell High School. The community is asked to bring a canned food item to the performance.
"Our entire band family, our student performers and Color Guard, and our educators and parents have been working so hard over the last three months, and it shows,” said CHS Band Director Kim Shuttlesworth. “We continue to improve and perform at the highest levels thanks to our band’s commitment to being a community and striving for excellence.”
Owen Clark, a senior at New Tech High @ Coppell who serves as the President of the Coppell Band, said, “It feels amazing to place 3rd. We haven’t placed in the top 5 of any big competition in my time here, so this is huge.”
Clark added, “To know that we’re competing with some of the top schools we’ve aspired to be like in the past is something I didn’t know would be possible. It is truly a huge motivation to keep getting better for our next competition.”
The Coppell Band will next compete at the Bands of America competition in San Antonio on Nov. 5-6.
“I want the CISD community to know that the name ‘Coppell’ is finally getting the recognition it deserves, and we’re not done yet.,” Clark said. “ We still have opportunities to surprise the world with the excellence we perfect every day.”
