Returning to School January 5 Update
January 4, 2022
Dear CISD Families,
Happy New Year! The Coppell ISD staff is looking forward to welcoming our students back for the second semester of this school year on Wednesday, January 5. We are excited to start 2022, and our teachers and staff cannot wait to see your children in person, as we work together to continue to provide the exceptional and high-quality learning experiences for which we are known.
We want to take this opportunity to share some reminders about COVID-19 safety protocols, in light of the increase in positive cases due to the Omicron variant. Our rigorous cleaning protocols remain in place, and we will continue using our air purifiers, which are in our classrooms and high traffic areas. These air purifiers provide three levels of air filtration including a prefilter, a H13 HEPA filter, which catches 99.9% of particles to 0.1 microns, and an activated carbon filter.
CISD also will be following the December 27, 2021 updated CDC guidelines for the public for our employees and students who test positive for COVID-19. Positive cases will isolate for 5 days, and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), follow that by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter.
We know testing is an important part of the COVID-19 response. As a reminder, CISD is partnering with Curative, which is offering testing Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Visitor’s Press Box at Buddy Echols Field at the Coppell High School campus (see map below). This is a self-collected swab test and is available to patients 5 years of age or older. Patients ages 5-17 must be swabbed by an accompanying adult. Learn more and make an appointment at www.curative.com. Due to the supply of tests and high volume, appointments are required, and no walk-ins are being accepted at this time.
