All Middle School Choirs Earn UIL Sweepstakes Award

CISD Middle school choir students hit the highest notes at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation at Grapevine High School earlier this month. Of the six middle school choirs from the district who performed, all six earned the esteemed UIL Sweepstakes Award and the highest ratings available, which is “I.”

The choirs' overall ratings are as follows:

  • CMS East Tenor/Bass Chorus (Non-Varsity) – Concert: I-I-I = I —  Sightreading: I-I-I = I
  • CMS West Tenor/Bass Chorus (Non-Varsity) – Concert: I-I-I = I —  Sightreading: I-I-I = I
  • CMS West Treble Chorus (Non-Varsity) – Concert: I-I-I = I —  Sightreading: I-I-I = I
  • CMS North Treble Chorus (Non-Varsity) – Concert: I-I-I = I —  Sightreading: I-I-I = I
  • CMS East Treble Chorus (Varsity) – Concert: I-I-I = I —  Sightreading: I-I-I = I
  • CMS West Treble Chorus (Varsity) – Concert: I-I-II = I —  Sightreading: I-I-I = I

Congratulations to the choir students and the CISD Middle School Choir Directors Lauren Danby at CMS East, Sarah Nordgren at CMS North and Allison Hartzell at CMS West on this incredible achievement. This year marks the first time since the late 1990s that every CISD Middle School Choir has earned 1st Division ratings in both Concert and Sightreading at UIL.
