PTO Meeting and Annual Title I Meeting - October 8th
Please join us on Thursday, October 8th at 5:30PM for a PTO Meeting and our Annual Title I meeting. Our PTO will be sending out the Zoom link information. I will also do a pre-recorded Title I meeting presentation that will be available online the week of October 12th for anyone who is unable to attend the October 8th meeting.
Make-Up MAP Testing for Remote Learners
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next week, we will be holding make-up sessions for any remote learner that did not take or finish their MAP test. All information about the test will be communicated through Schoology and email from your learner’s subject-area teachers. If your learner needs to make-up a test, please do everything you can to ensure that your child logs on to Schoology at 8:10 each morning to locate the information about the test in the Updates section of their Schoology courses.
All students will take the test on their iPad, so please ensure that your child has downloaded the NWEA MAP application from Manager. Here is a video that explains how to do this: Downloading MAP App Video. On the morning of the test, they will follow the process shown in the video found here: Logging-in To Begin Testing Video.
If you have any questions or require troubleshooting throughout the duration of the test, please contact our campus instructional coach, Mrs. Kara McWilliams - email@example.com.
In addition, please be aware that your child is still responsible for completing any work assigned by their teachers on these three days of testing. They may watch recordings of any missed Zoom sessions when they have finished their test.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email Mrs. McWilliams above. Thank you!

Free Meals for Elementary & Distance Learners
Starting Oct. 1, CISD will offer free meals to all in-person elementary students and all virtual students (PK-12 and all children under 18) through the end of December 2020. Sign up is required weekly for virtual learners to receive these meals at go.coppellisd.com/CurbsideOrderForm. Read more at go.coppellisd.com/2020FreeMeals
Student Zoom Sign In Reminder
Reminder, all students need to sign into Zoom with their @g.coppellisd.com account. CISD recently learned that logging into Zoom using the Google Button doesn’t actually transfer their account into the district enterprise account. Students MUST go through the SSO option. When your child signs into Zoom, and they see “Guest” next to their name in the participant’s list, this means that they are NOT signed into their @g.coppellisd.com account in our Coppell Zoom domain and need to add their account to our domain by signing in with SSO. Visit go.coppellisd.com/StudentZoomSignIn for instructions.
Apple Update for Student iPads
Apple has released a new update to the operating system for the iPads. The latest version of the iPad Operating System is 14. It is available for download in “Settings” on all district-issued iPads. The CISD Technology Department is asking all users to update their devices, as soon as possible. To do this, the user will go to Settings, go to General, touch Software Update, touch Download and Install. This will begin the process. The user will need to agree to the terms and conditions before the download begins. It should take fewer than 10 minutes to download the update, and another 15 or 20 minutes to install the software.
Please encourage your student not to bring their Apple AirPods (wireless headphones) to school. These expensive items are quite small, easy to lose, and difficult to find if misplaced. The school is unable to dedicate time to helping students locate their Airpods if lost, so it would be best if students leave them at home for safe keeping. Thank you.
Learning Modality Commitments for the Second Nine Weeks
Thank you for submitting any learning modality changes for the second nine weeks. This allowed us to plan as a campus to support in-person and remote learning. Please understand that we will not be able to make any learning modality changes to in-person instruction unless there is an extenuating circumstance. We appreciate your understanding as we try to make in-person learning safe for staff and students.
