North

Good Evening North Families,

Happy November! At North, we are focusing on being thankful. I would encourage you to drop a note (or email) of thanks to a teacher or staff member some time this month.

Cougars4Change was featured in this week's CISD Informed newsletter for their recycling program. Thanks to a grant from our CMS North PTO, the group has 8 “Recycling Stations” around the school specifically for bottles and cans, and every classroom in the building has a small recycling bin. Under the leadership of CMS North Science Teacher Lisa Walsh, Cougars4Change learners are also working on developing programs to implement with distance learners to engage them in the recycling process. We are thankful for Lisa Walsh and our PTO! Read the full article here.

As we all know, COVID-19 cases are increasing. Our district leadership is in constant communication with the Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS), and we are working together to make the best decisions for our district and community. We also continue to follow the protocols in our Return to School Guide, available at www.coppellisd.com/returntoschool, and all of our campuses and buildings remain operating according to these policies, procedures and guidelines. Please read more in the CISD COVID-19 Safety Update.

Here are some reminders for the weeks ahead.

Complete CISD Family Survey by Nov. 20
The Fall 2020 CISD Family Survey is open now through Friday, Nov. 20. To participate, visit go.coppellisd.com/familyfall2020, then select your child(ren)’s school. If you have multiple children in CISD, we ask that you take the survey for each school your child attends. Please email input@coppellisd.com, if you would like to share any additional feedback or insight not covered in the survey or have any additional comments to share with the district.

The North Pole
Coppell Middle School North would like to introduce our holiday assistance program called, “The North Pole.” This program is designed to help North families facing financial difficulties this holiday season and could use a little help to make their North student’s holiday a little brighter. This program is for North Students only as other programs are available to assist the whole family. To qualify for this program, the North student must participate in the CISD free and reduced lunch plan. Holiday wish list items will total (on average) $50 per student. All information collected is confidential and will only be used for item collection purposes. If you would like your student to participate in The North Pole Program, please complete the attached form. The form is available in English and Spanish. Return the completed form to Brit Fahey at bfahey@coppellisd.com by Monday, November 13th, 2020.
