The Feb. 26 Regular Board Meeting included the 2022-2023 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) Hearing and discussions on the proposed CISD Strategic Action Plan, adjustments to the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 Academic Calendars and an elementary rezoning adjustment affecting Richard J. Lee Elementary and Cottonwood Creek Elementary. During the meeting:

  • Trustees approved an elementary rezoning adjustment affecting some apartments in Cypress Waters, which will now go to Cottonwood Creek Elementary. Additionally, the Board rezoned students who live in the Grant Valley Ranch Apartments (formerly known as the Casa Valley Apartments) from Canyon Ranch Elementary to Valley Ranch Elementary.

  • The Board approved an adjustment to the adopted 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 Calendars. The adjustments included the following changes:

    • Adopted calendar:

      • Friday, Feb. 14 — Bad Weather Day

      • Monday, Feb. 17 — Professional Development/Student Holiday

    • Adjusted calendar:

      • Friday, Feb. 14 — Professional Development/Student Holiday

      • Monday, Feb. 17 — Bad Weather Day

    • Reasons for the adjustment cited allowing the potential for CISD to be closed and all staff to be off on President's Day; aligning with neighboring districts where many CISD employees live and their children attend school; aligning with a holiday for many other industries; allowing for better timing of professional development; and positive feedback from the most recent Professional Learning Day/long weekend experience.

  • The CISD Board of Trustees approved the district’s Strategic Plan at the Feb. 26 Board meeting. This approval is a culmination of the CISD Strategic Planning Committee, which consisted of 64 parents, students, staff and community members, who worked to develop Objectives and Strategies for each of the Community-Based Accountability System pillars. Then, 16 Action Teams engaging 169 parents, students, staff and community members built off this work and developed Specific Results that would guide the work and accomplish the Objectives and Strategies. During the Action Team process, cost versus benefits were evaluated. For more information visit www.coppellisd.com/page/strategic-planning.
