As a "Leader in Me" campus, Valley Ranch Elementary has embraced Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Happy Kids, and it shows in the amazing initiatives these student leaders have undertaken. The dedication of VRE student leaders knows no bounds. From organizing a food drive for the Lions Club to embodying the role of school ambassadors for tours of Valley Ranch Elementary, their commitment to serving others is truly remarkable. Not stopping there, these amazing student leaders set up a booth at the Coppell EarthFest. With boundless generosity, they distributed free sunflower seeds in newspaper pots, spreading the spirit of sustainability and growth within our community. This statewide Student Leadership award is a testament to the dedication, passion and leadership Valley Ranch students exhibit every day. Lee Elementary was recognized for receiving the 2023 Student Leadership award from the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA). This recognition is a testament to the exceptional character, integrity, and unwavering eagerness to help displayed by the learners in grades K-5 who make up the remarkable "LEEdership council." These young LEEders have showcased the true essence of leadership through their selfless actions and positive contributions. From adding a touch of positivity to teachers' days by decorating coffee sleeves with uplifting messages to making a lasting impact through acts of kindness, Richard J. Lee's LEEdership Council shines as a beacon of inspiration. During "The Great Kindness Challenge" week, they channeled their creativity to design posters for Coppell Middle School West, spreading kindness one poster at a time. Their dedication to the community doesn't stop there — through a successful canned food drive for Sack Summer Hunger in support of Metrocrest Services, they've shown their commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Also, as the school year drew to a close in May 2023, these extraordinary LEEders encouraged fellow learners to create Memorial Day Cards, a touching gesture that resonated deeply as they placed these heartfelt cards on gravesites at the DFW National Cemetery. Let's give a resounding applause to Richard J. Lee Elementary for instilling such outstanding leadership qualities in our young learners and for shaping a future filled with compassion, kindness and positive change. #CISDMissionPossible

Lakeside Elementary's heartwarming contributions extend beyond the school walls. The 2023-2024 CISD Athletics season is officially underway. Coppell Cowboys Football will kick off its 6A District season Friday, Aug. 25 with the first home football game for the Coppell Cowboys vs. Sachse at 8 p.m. at Buddy Echols Field. #CISDMissionPossible

Franci Hazleton, who teaches drama/theatre at CMS West, is the 2023 recipient of the Educator of the Year Award for K-12 from the Texas Educational Theatre Association. Hazleton will receive the award at the organization’s Theatre Fest 2023. #CISDMissionPossible

Coppell High School Health Science Teacher Bill Borowski has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Texas Health Occupations Association, Inc. (THOA) for the 2023-2024 school year. Borowski will serve as the Area 3 Director. #CISDMissionPossible

Doris Patrick, who volunteers in the school garden at Valley Ranch Elementary has been chosen as a recipient of the 2023 Heroes for Children Award for the State Board of Education District 14. Patrick is one of only 15 recipients of this prestigious award statewide.
