Welcome to Mockingbird Elementary, a TEPSA State School of Character, a CEP National School of Character and a three-time Honor Student Council Excellence Award School! Our Mockingbird family is made up of 550 creative, hard-working, motivated learners and a phenomenal staff who continually push themselves and their learners to reach new heights.

We pride ourselves on being a learner-centered campus which means we consider the unique needs of each learner in the building. Our extraordinary staff of lifelong learners are continually looking for ways to help each learner meet his or her full potential. Through work in professional learning communities, we build our own capacity and work collectively to impact achievement campus-wide and remain current with research-based instructional practices. Our campus strategic initiative is Project Based Learning (PBL) which aligns with the CISD Learning Portrait and The New Vision for Public Schools in Texas

Educators at Mockingbird design innovative, differentiated lessons to meet the needs of today’s learners and to encourage collaboration, a cornerstone of the 21st Century workforce. Our goal is to nurture the whole child and help each of our learners experience success, both academically and socially/emotionally.

To reach this goal fully, we must work as a team! We invite you to visit our classroom websites, follow our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and Mockingbird on Facebook, and our campus on Twitter. Our outstanding parental involvement, large number of volunteers, dynamic PTO, and Mavs Dads’ Club are just some of the ways we are able to connect with our wonderful community. At Mockingbird Elementary, we know it takes “the whole village” to enrich the education of our learners; therefore, we encourage you to be involved as you are able and take part in our journey toward success.

Excellence, Respect, and the Mockingbird Way!

For kids,

Laura Flynn
