A total of 331 CISD High School students — 257 from CHS, 42 from CHS9 and 32 from New Tech High @ Coppell — have qualified to advance to the Texas DECA State Career Development Conference following an outstanding performance at the recent District 11 DECA Competition. DECA is the student business organization that holds competitions in areas that include marketing, finance, hospitality, management and more.

New Tech junior Yashvi Jain was elected as District 11 DECA President at the event held at the Irving Convention Center, which brought together top business and marketing students from across District 11. CHS9 had a record 42 students qualify for the state competition, which will be held in Dallas Feb. 19 to Feb. 21. CISD DECA had hundreds of students compete across more than competitive events, showcasing their skills in areas such as entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, hospitality and management.

Advancing 331 students to the State level reflects the dedication, preparation, and leadership of CISD’s DECA members and the strength of the district’s Career and Technical Education program.
