Lakeside Elementary celebrated Start With Hello Week Sept. 15–19 with activities designed to build connections and prevent social isolation. English Language Learners, led by Language Acquisition Specialist Jessica Haran and paraprofessional Nazanin Naiemi, created colorful posters featuring the word “hello” in their home languages alongside their country flags. On Sept. 17, Student Council members arrived early to display the signs and greet classmates and families in the car loop, encouraging everyone to “Start With Hello.” The Student Council, co-sponsored by Haran, School Counselor Lauren Morgan, 3rd Grade Teacher Katie Reyes and 4th Grade Teacher Frankie Robertson, helped lead the effort, which also included PK–5 guidance lessons on recognizing when someone feels left out and how to reach out with kindness.
