Coppell ISD (CISD), long recognized as a destination district where families choose to live and students thrive, is sharing the district’s Elementary Campus Planning recommendation — Cowboys United: We are the CHOICE. This bold plan strengthens CISD’s position as the CHOICE for families by expanding opportunities, supporting fiscal responsibility and celebrating the spirit and unity that define our Cowboy community. The School Board will vote on the entire plan at the Oct. 6 Board Meeting.
Key Components of the Cowboys United Recommendation
Cowboys United Campaign
CISD will launch a district-wide Cowboys United marketing campaign to promote district spirit, belonging and shared identity.
Tagline: We are the CHOICE. We are all Cowboys.
Why CHOICE? Because CHOICE stands for Coppell: Home of Innovative and Classic Education, reflecting CISD’s commitment to honoring tradition while embracing innovation to provide families with the best of both worlds.
Focus: Celebrating student success, family engagement and staff excellence to strengthen loyalty while positioning CISD as the premier choice for new families.
Data-Driven Retention & Recruitment
To remain competitive and responsive, CISD will collect and analyze data on where families who live in CISD send their school-aged children to school, why families make those decisions, what attracts families to choose and stay in CISD, and what would entice families to choose CISD instead of charter or private schools.
Focus Groups, interviews, summits and surveys will guide continuous improvement.
Accountability: Initiatives will be measured, tracked and adjusted in real time to maximize effectiveness.
Expanding Choice School Options
Beginning in the 2027–2028 school year, CISD will expand innovative choice programs at the elementary level that align through middle and high school.
Focus areas: High-demand programs that highlight CISD’s strengths.
Goal: Compete directly with charter and private schools, while reinforcing CISD as a Destination District.
Expanding Limited Open Enrollment
CISD will open limited access to families in specific neighborhoods just beyond district boundaries and create enrollment pathways for grandchildren of current residents and alumni.
Impact: Increased enrollment stability and deeper ties to the community.
Campus Consolidation for Cost Avoidance
As part of its multi-year balanced budget plan, CISD is recommending the consolidation of one elementary campus — Town Center Elementary. With care and thoughtful planning around staffing, facility use and operational costs, CISD is working to safeguard the long-term fiscal health of the district.
Boundary Realignment
To maximize enrollment across campuses, elementary and middle school boundaries will be adjusted to allow for growth, long-term sustainability and choice programs at elementary campuses.
Commitment to Excellence
“Cowboys United is more than a plan, it’s a promise,” said CISD Interim Superintendent Doug Williams. “We are uniting our community under one vision: to remain the CHOICE for families, to celebrate what makes CISD exceptional and to secure a sustainable and innovative future for our students.”
By combining enrollment growth strategies, innovative program offerings and cost-avoidance measures, CISD is ensuring that every decision reflects its commitment to academic excellence, community spirit, and fiscal responsibility.
