Congratulations to KCBY TV, the student-run broadcast journalism program and television station at Coppell High School, which was named a 2026 Broadcast Pacemaker Award finalist by the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), an honor widely regarded as the “Pulitzer” of scholastic journalism. KCBY TV is one of only three finalists in Texas and one of just 18 finalists nationwide recognized for excellence in scholastic news broadcasting. This marks KCBY's 10th Pacemaker finalist nomination since 2015, with the program earning four Pacemaker Awards during that time. We proudly celebrate the leadership and dedication of adviser Irma Lazos Kennedy, along with Steven Jones, and the talented student journalists who continue to produce exceptional work. The 2026 Pacemaker winners will be announced Nov. 21 at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Orlando.
