At the June 9 Board Workshop, district leaders presented updates and CISD Trustees discussed topics related to budget planning.
Multi-Year Balanced Budget Plan
Chief Financial Officer Diana Sircar and Chief Communications Officer Angela Brown presented a comprehensive multi-year budget strategy focused on sustainability and long-term financial stability. The plan outlines phased adjustments for reduced expenditures for each school year for the next five years to achieve a balanced budget.
Secondary Family and Staff Survey Results
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Angie Brooks shared insights from a recent survey of secondary families and staff regarding scheduling, program preferences, shuttle transportation and virtual learning at the secondary level.
2025-2026 & 2026-2027 Budget and Compensation Plan
CFO Diana Sircar shared information about the impact of the 89th Legislative Session and HB2 funding on the district’s budget. She and Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services Kristen Eichel also shared the district’s proposed compensation plan, which is scheduled for Board approval at the June 23, 2025 meeting as follows:
State directed raises for teachers:
3 to <5 years of teaching experience $2,500 raise ~3.6% raise
5 or more years of teaching experience $5,000 raise ~7.2% raise
Coppell ISD funded cost-of-living increases:
Includes state allotment of ~$500,000
0 to <3 years of teaching experience $2,000 raise ~3.1% raise
Other staff 3% of the midpoint
Coppell ISD contribution to healthcare $350/month
TRS active care premiums increasing 10%

Interim Superintendent Doug Williams and CFO Diana Sircar also shared hypothetical additional reductions for the budget. These “what if” scenarios are for sharing purposes only and are not recommendations by district administration.
New Tech High @ Coppell Update
Interim Superintendent Doug Williams shared that a New Tech Transition Planning Project Team will meet throughout the summer. The team will include parents, students, staff and CERC members. Interim Superintendent Williams will present an update at the Aug. 11 Board Workshop with recommendations from the team.
Board of Trustees President David Caviness provided an update on the search for CISD’s next superintendent, facilitated by JG Consulting. Community input is being gathered from June 9–27 via an online survey and a town hall on June 25. Leadership profile review and candidate interviews will occur in July and August. A lone finalist is expected to be named later this summer.
