Coppell ISD is proud to announce Sheryl Dennehy as the new principal of Valley Ranch Elementary, beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

Dennehy is no stranger to the Valley Ranch community. Currently serving as assistant principal on the campus, she has built strong relationships with students, staff and families and brings a deep understanding of the culture and traditions that make Valley Ranch Elementary special.

With 17 years of experience in education, Dennehy has served in a variety of roles, including paraprofessional, classroom teacher, instructional coach and assistant principal. These experiences have shaped her student-centered approach to leadership and her commitment to supporting both academic excellence and strong school communities.

She holds degrees from the University of Nebraska and Lamar University and is committed to continuous learning to ensure she remains at the forefront of educational best practices.

“Mrs. Dennehy is a steady and thoughtful leader who brings a strong understanding of the Valley Ranch community,” Superintendent Dr. Leanne Shivers said. “Her leadership will ensure a smooth and seamless transition while continuing to support and grow students, staff and families.”

For Dennehy, the opportunity to lead Valley Ranch Elementary is both professional and personal.

“Valley Ranch Elementary holds a special place in my heart, and I am truly honored to serve as its principal,” Dennehy said. “Our school thrives because of the dedication and connection that define this community, and I look forward to continuing this work alongside our exceptional students, staff and families.”

Looking ahead, Dennehy is focused on continuing to foster a learning environment where every student feels supported, challenged and inspired to learn and grow.

She is committed to creating a safe, welcoming and engaging campus where students can thrive and, she believes that strong partnerships between educators, families and the community are essential to student success. Under her leadership, Valley Ranch Elementary will continue to inspire lifelong learners, promote innovation and prepare students for success in an ever-changing world.

Outside of school, Dennehy enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with family.

Dennehy will succeed Principal Cynthia Arterbery, who will retire at the end of the 2025-2026 school year after 26 years of dedicated service to the Valley Ranch community.
