LAKESIDE ELEMENTARY

At the Aug. 24 Regular Board Meeting, Coppell ISD Trustees approved the district’s 2026-2027 budget and tax rate and received updates on the Technology Framework and Usage Recommendations, House Bill 3 curriculum goals and more.

The approved 2026-2027 proposed General Fund Budget has a deficit of $3.5 million, as the district has been able to reduce the deficit by about $4.7 million from last fiscal year. 

The approved tax rate for 2026-2027 will be a total of $0.9857 per $100 in assessed property value, which is a total tax rate increase of $0.0038 per $100 in assessed value.

Other Board Action includes:

• Trustees approved the adoption of the 2026-2027 District Improvement Plan.

• The Board approved the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Policy Update 127 affecting (LOCAL) policies: BJCF, CFB, DC, DH, DH (Exhibit), DP, DPA, DPB, EHAD, EHBB, FFF.

• Trustees approved the Certification of Compliance with Certain Laws under the Texas Education Code 39.008, as enacted by Senate Bill 12 (89th Texas Legislative Session).

• The Board approved:

  • The 2026-2027 District Professional Learning Plan

  • The Coppell ISD Comprehensive Dual Credit Service Agreement with Dallas College 

• Trustees approved the following construction items:

  • Gym wood floor replacement at Coppell High School funded by the voter-approved 2023 Bond with expenditures not to exceed $250,00 and

  • A Resolution to hire Northstar Builders Group as Construction Manager at Risk for the renovation to portions of Richard J Lee Elementary that includes HVAC equipment and other building components in need of renovation and replacement.

• The Board approved House Bill 3372 Exemption Requests for

  • Mary Kennington

  • Gerry Miller

  • Dr. Anita de la Isla

  • Dr. Amber Lasseigne and

  • Dan McCready.

• Trustees approved the 2025-2026 Final Budget Amendments and the Financial Report for July 31, 2026.

Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Angie Brooks, Director of Elementary Math & Science Samira Khan, Director of Elementary Literacy & Social Studies Sabrina Khan and Director of Career and Technical Education Monica Champagne shared an update on House Bill 3 Student Achievement Goals. 

Compensation Plan Manual Preview 
Assistant Superintendent of Leadership and Administrative Services Cooper Hilton shared a preview of the CISD Compensation Plan Manual.

Review Technology Framework 
Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Angie Brooks shared the Technology Framework and Technology Usage Recommendations.
