The Coppell ISD Board of Trustees gathered on Dec. 15 to celebrate student and staff achievements, review important updates on finances and planning, and take action on key items that support schools and facilities across the district.

The meeting opened with Board Awards, recognizing both creativity and commitment within the CISD community. Trustees honored Wilson Elementary fifth grader Sabrina Whitney as the winner of the district’s 2025 Holiday Card Contest, celebrating her artwork that will represent Coppell ISD during the holiday season.

Trustees also recognized the Great Employees who Matter (GEM) Award recipients for Fall 2025, highlighting staff members whose dedication makes a meaningful difference for students and colleagues every day. Those honored included Susie Mayes, Viana Martinez Bayon, Casey Magnacca and Andrea Weng, along with Carol Snowden, all from the Administration Building. Additional recipients included Adrian Cevallos, bilingual aide at Denton Creek Elementary; Anthony Brasberger from Child Nutrition; Tamera Mooney, art teacher at New Tech High @ Coppell; Cynthia Silvestri, special education teacher at Coppell High School Ninth Grade Campus; Micaiah Tesfa, early childhood education teacher at Valley Ranch Elementary; and Garrett Barley and LB Siebenmann, cross country coaches and teachers at Coppell Middle School North.

Following recognitions, trustees received several reports and discussion items focused on the district’s operations and long-term planning. Chief Financial Officer Diana Sircar shared an update on budget efficiencies year to date, outlining ongoing efforts to manage resources responsibly while maintaining high-quality learning environments. Dr. Angie Brooks, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, presented updates on limited open enrollment zones and the district’s boundary realignment plan, both of which are part of broader efforts to balance enrollment and plan for future growth. Superintendent Dr. Leanne Shivers also discussed a proposed resignation incentive program, providing context around staffing considerations and workforce planning.
