At the Aug. 25 Regular Board Meeting, Coppell ISD Trustees approved the district’s 2025-2026 budget and tax rate, recognized outstanding students in the Cowboy Cultivate Club and received updates on the School Health Advisory Council, House Bill 3 curriculum goals, and the district’s multi-year budget plan.
Key Board Actions
Trustees approved the 2025-2026 budgets for the General, Food Service and Debt Service funds, as well as the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) and Debt Service tax rates. The total tax rate was set at $0.9819 per $100 in assessed property value, a decrease of $0.0207 from last year.
The proposed 2025-2026 General Fund Expenditure Budget is $163,748,585, with a Food Service Budget of $6,005,601 and a Debt Service Budget of $44,144,540. The General Fund Budget has a deficit of $8,499,132, with an estimated $17.6 million in recapture to the state. Excluding recapture, the General Fund Budget is allocated as follows:

Additional approvals included:
Adoption of the 2025 Certified Appraisal Roll, as required by state law.
Purchases funded through the voter-approved 2023 Bond, including:
Shared service agreement with the Dallas Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD).
Superintendent Reports
School Health Advisory Council (SHAC): Coordinator of Health Services Joyce Alcorn and SHAC Parent Chair Rebekah Zonozy provided the annual update on SHAC.
House Bill 3 Update: District curriculum leaders presented information on student achievement goals outlined in HB 3.
Multi-Year Balanced Budget Plan: District leaders shared highlights of efforts to return CISD to a balanced budget in the next five years. The update included strategies for revenue generation and expenditure reduction and an update on elementary configuration planning, enrollment trends, and building utilization.
Board Awards: Cowboy Cultivate Club
Trustees honored the Cowboy Cultivate 4-H Club for its extraordinary record of service and achievement. The group represents Coppell ISD through food and nutrition projects, ambassador leadership roles, and participation in statewide competitions, while also managing the Coppell High School Food Pantry.
This year’s recognized students include:
Annabella “A.B.” Perk – President of Cowboy Cultivate and Coppell Culinary Club; USDA MyPlate Ambassador; Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador; 2nd in State in the 2025 Food Challenge; 3rd Place at the Texas State Fair; 1st in County and District Food Show.
Isheeta Bajjuri – Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador; part of the team that placed 2nd in State in Food Challenge and 3rd at the Texas State Fair; award-winning photographer.
Lincoln Gardner – Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador; 1st in County Food Show.
Jacob Johnson – Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador.Nathalie Petit – Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador.
Liam Gatlin – State of Texas Water Ambassador.
Mariah Calvillo – Food Pantry outreach leader.
