Students from the Coppell High School Ninth Grade Campus (CHS9) have earned international recognition for their creativity and technical skill, securing both 1st and 2nd place honors in the Fall 2025 CMU CS Academy Creative Task Challenge, a global computer science competition hosted by Carnegie Mellon University. Under the guidance of CHS9 AP Computer Science Principles teacher Seneca Hart, two student teams rose to the top of the international field:
1st Place: Roshan Adapta and Dhruv Rajvanshi
2nd Place: Ishani Dash and Siya Mehta
The CMU CS Academy Creative Task Challenge is held twice each year and invites students from around the world to showcase original, student-created computer programs. Submissions are evaluated by CMU CS Academy judges and scored on creativity, functionality, and effective use of computer science concepts, with strict alignment to curriculum standards. This fall’s competition drew entries from across the globe, including submissions from as far away as Japan and Mongolia, making the achievement by Coppell ISD students especially noteworthy.
First-place winners will receive official prizes from CMU CS Academy, including educational swag and recognition items, to be distributed through the school. All participating teachers were formally notified of the results by Carnegie Mellon University following the judging process. Coppell ISD continues to demonstrate its commitment to high-quality computer science education, empowering students to compete and excel on an international stage.
