During the July 28 Board of Trustees meeting, the Coppell ISD Board approved a revised timeline for elementary campus planning and boundary realignment, as well as received a recommendation to relocate New Tech High @ Coppell to the Coppell High School campus.

Interim Superintendent Doug Williams shared updates on the Elementary Campus Configuration, including current enrollment figures as of July 24 and the announcement of upcoming Elementary Community Dialogue Meetings in August. Trustees then approved the revised timeline for elementary campus planning and boundary realignment as follows:

  • First few weeks of school — Community Dialogue Input Meetings

  • September 4 — Enrollment Data to Zonda Demographics

  • September 22 Board Workshop — Recommendation

  • Week of Sept 22 Neighborhood Meetings

  • September 29 Board Meeting

  • Week of Oct 6 Board Workshop  — Campus Planning and Boundary Realignment Board Action

Williams also presented his recommendation to relocate a reimagined New Tech High @ Coppell onto the CHS campus beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. Trustees are scheduled to vote on this recommendation at the Aug. 11 Special Board Meeting, which starts at 5:45 p.m.

Trustees also approved the formation of a Student Library Advisory Council (SLAC), as part of Senate Bill 13 from the 89th Legislative Session.  The Board also approved the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Policy Update and the 2025-2026 Student Code of Conduct

In other action, Trustees approved several projects funded by the 2023 Bond, including $46,101.02 for concrete hazard repairs at Cottonwood Creek Elementary and assessments at additional campuses. The Board also approved the purchase of networking equipment for the Coppell High School Fine Arts Building, not to exceed $85,000. 

The Board recognized several student and trustee achievements, including CHS Senior Shreeya Gedda for receiving the Congressional Award Gold Medal and New Tech Senior Andy Coffey for being named to the Hope Squad National Council. Trustee Ranna Raval was also honored for achieving Master Trustee status through Leadership TASB.

Updates were shared on the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 budget planning process by Chief Financial Officer Diana Sircar. Trustee reports included a legislative update from Nichole Bentley, a recap of TASB Risk Management and local engagement from Anthony Hill, and a Leadership TASB session summary from Raval. Board President David Caviness also shared an update on the ongoing superintendent search, noting that 23 applicants from across the country have submitted applications to date.
