During the Aug. 10 Board Workshop, Coppell ISD Trustees continued discussions on the 2026-2027 Budget and Tax Rate, reviewing updates to the proposed budgets for the General Fund, Child Nutrition Fund, and Debt Service Fund.
The proposed budgets include projected revenues and expenditures across the district's three primary funds. Trustees also reviewed updated property value and tax collection information as the district prepares for the upcoming budget and tax rate adoption process.
Key budget and tax rate highlights include:
General Fund: $158.6 million in projected revenue and $162 million in projected expenditures, resulting in a projected $3.5 million deficit.
Child Nutrition Fund: Approximately $6 million in projected revenue and expenditures, with a projected surplus of $18,663.
Debt Service Fund: Approximately $48 million in projected revenue and expenditures, with a projected surplus of $22,106.
Property Values: The district's property value growth assumption was adjusted to 3.73% based on certified values from the Dallas County Appraisal District.
Enrollment: The 2026-2027 student enrollment projection was updated to 12,900 students.
The proposed 2026-2027 total tax rate is $0.9857, including a $0.7478 Maintenance & Operations rate and a $0.2379 Interest & Sinking rate. The proposed Interest & Sinking rate represents a $0.0112 increase, while the proposed total tax rate represents a $0.0038 increase. Trustees also reviewed information regarding continued property value protests and anticipated tax refunds for 2026-2027.
The 2026-2027 Budget and Tax Rate Hearing is scheduled for Aug. 24 at 6 p.m.
