“My commitment to our stakeholders is to continue to keep students first in all the decisions we make in Coppell ISD."
Dr. Hunt became Coppell ISD Superintendent in July 2017.
Prior to the Coppell ISD Board of Trustees naming him CISD Superintendent in 2017, Dr. Brad Hunt served the district for almost 30 years as a teacher at Coppell High School, assistant principal of Coppell Middle School West, Director of Human Resources, principal of Coppell High School and as Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services.
“It is my privilege to serve you, your child and Coppell ISD.”
Dr. Hunt began his career in Coppell ISD in 1990 as a special education, world geography and American government teacher at Coppell High School. He, later, became the assistant principal at Coppell Middle School West before moving to Carroll ISD as a middle school principal. He then returned to CISD as its Director of Human Resources and, in 2006, he took the lead role as the principal of Coppell High School. In 2011, he transitioned back to CISD Administration as the Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services.
Under Dr. Hunt’s leadership, in the fall of 2017 CISD embarked on a new Strategic Design effort to collaboratively create its next set of priorities as the district nears the end of its previous strategic plan, Pinnacle 2020. Both current and former students, parents, as well as teachers, staff, CISD Trustees and members of the community worked together throughout the entire process in developing CISD’s core Values, which are centered around the themes of engagement, great teaching, redefining success, and relationships. The Coppell ISD 2030 Strategic Planning process stands as a pivotal endeavor, building upon the foundation laid by the preceding work including the 2017 Strategic Design process. Comprising of 64 members, including parents, students, teachers, staff, and community representatives, the Coppell ISD 2030 Strategic Planning Committee worked collaboratively to give shape to the district's future through the formulation of the Coppell ISD 2030 Strategic Plan. The Coppell ISD Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap that is reflective of the Coppell ISD community's educational priorities as we look towards the future.
“Our Strategic Planning efforts are a culmination of work that engaged our parents, teachers and staff, students, and community members who came together to work on the plans and actions that will help shape our district’s future under the Coppell 2030 umbrella.”
The first two words of the CISD mission statement are “working together.” It is by working together as parents, teachers, staff, students, and community, we do what we do best in CISD, which to create profound learning opportunities for each child.
“I truly believe that it is the meaningful relationships for which CISD is known for that makes us stand out as a school district that allows us to positively impact our world.”
Under Dr. Hunt's leadership, a significant bond package totaling $321 million was passed by the voters in May 2023 providing funding for priority condition improvements at all CISD campuses, safety and security upgrades at all schools and buildings, technology upgrades and to build a new fine arts rehearsal building at CHS.
Dr. Hunt has a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas, a Master’s degree from the University of Texas at Tyler and his Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from the University of North Texas.
Dr. Hunt's wife, Janay, is a counselor in the neighboring district. Their daughter, who graduated from Coppell High School in 2023, currently attends Texas A&M University and their son is in high school in CISD.
