Coppell ISD has received an “A” rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for 2023 and 2024. While these ratings and the high marks of our schools are noteworthy, we recognize that TEA "grades," based predominantly on the high-stakes, multiple-choice STAAR tests, are just one small measure of our success. In CISD, we prioritize a growth mindset and live out our Redefining Success core value statement: "We value each individual’s contribution because success can be different for everyone."

As a reminder, the A–F accountability system itself was refreshed in 2023, increasing cut points and changes to the methodology. Since the accountability system in 2023 and 2024 were significantly more rigorous than previous years, comparing a campus's 2023 or 2024 performance to its prior ratings can be misleading due to the substantial changes in evaluation criteria.

"We are extremely proud of our ratings and the dedication of our educators, staff, students and parent partners in maintaining a strong academic focus at Coppell ISD," said Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt. "While we take great pride in our ratings, we are equally proud of the efforts put into our Community-Based Accountability System (CBAS)."

Coppell ISD uses the Community-Based Accountability System (CBAS) to engage and inform all stakeholders about the progress and growth around accountability on more than just one test on one day. The CBAS system allows the Coppell ISD community to monitor and measure growth in pillar areas beyond the A-F system that cannot be tested, giving a holistic view of accountability in all areas of the school district. CBAS is aligned with CISD’s four Core Values: Redefining Success, Great Teaching, Collective Engagement and Authentic Relationships, and enables our parents, guardians, community members, and educators to identify meaningful measurements to evaluate the progress and success unique to our district in the pillar areas of student learning and progress, student readiness, engaged and well-rounded students, community engagement and partnerships, professional learning and quality staff, safety and well-being, and fiscal and operational systems.
