January marks School Board Recognition Month, and CISD students honored Trustees for their service under the theme, “Our Future is Public.” Students who recognized Trustees were CHS9 student Ellie Evans, CHS seniors Mavis Prince, Trinity McConnell, Noah Schuller and Johan Padayatti, and New Tech High @ Coppell seniors Jimin Park and Hana Chambless.
At the meeting, CISD Trustees approved several items, including a Boundary Realignment Plan affecting Valley Ranch Elementary for the 2026–2027 school year. Under the plan, students living in the Anthem apartments will attend Mockingbird Elementary, students in the Devi apartments will attend Lakeside Elementary and all Town Center Elementary students will attend CMS North. Trustees also approved the Early Resignation Notice Incentive, the purchase of six new student buses using May 2023 Bond funds and revisions to district policy.
In addition to Board action, Trustees received updates on budget efficiencies, the May 2023 Bond and New Tech High @ Coppell, as well as a preview of academic calendar options for the 2026–2027 school year. After feedback from CISD Trustees and the CISD District Education Improvement Committee, there are now four calendar options for community feedback. See below for details.
