Elementary learners across Coppell ISD are engaging with HMH Into Reading, a new resource for the 2026–2027 school year that provides high-quality texts in a reading journal, which is aligned to students’ interests and the complexity needs of each grade level. Through hands-on lessons and meaningful comprehension activities, students are reading closely, thinking critically and using evidence from the text to demonstrate their understanding. At Valley Ranch Elementary, fourth graders recently put these skills into practice as they read Flora and the Ulysses and answered questions about the passage. Students returned to the text to locate key details and information that supported their answers, strengthening their ability to identify relevant information, make connections and use what they read to guide their thinking and comprehension.
