Eight students from Coppell High School’s Chick-fil-A Leader Academy program volunteered their Saturday mornings to collect more than 400 pounds of trash from Lewisville Lake on April 6. The CFA Leader Academy’s core values aim to empower students to make a positive impact through servant leadership, teamwork, communication and innovation. Under the guidance of faculty sponsor and CHS Forensic Science Teacher Catherine Murphy, juniors Vidhi Dasani, Landon Trego, Leilani Nevarez, Bhavana Palla, Hridya Ann Jimmy, and Dolly Bandlamudi (not pictured) and seniors Rose Parampottil and Sydni Eldridge (not pictured) brainstormed project ideas before collectively deciding to clean up Lewisville Lake. The project was a first for the group, but certainly not the last of the students’ efforts to positively change their community and world.

Get ready to witness the creativity and talent of third, fourth and fifth graders at Austin Elementary. In collaboration with Market Street in Coppell, these students have embarked on an extraordinary project to elevate their writing skills while celebrating Earth Day on April 22. Over the past few weeks, students have crafted extended constructed responses on Earth Day themes in their English, Language Arts, and Reading classes, with the final drafts written onto paper grocery bags. These unique creations will now take center stage as Market Street customers have the privilege of having their groceries bagged with the artwork and messages from Austin Mustangs on April 22. This is a wonderful opportunity for Austin students to showcase their voices beyond the classroom walls.

Did you know that schools in Texas are funded based on student attendance, not enrollment? The state counts a child present if they are in class when attendance is taken each day, which is 10 a.m. for Elementary, 10:15 a.m. for Middle School and 10:45 a.m. for High School.
Help us increase our attendance rate districtwide by having your child in school or by scheduling your appointments before or after attendance is taken.
