Coppell High School Ninth Grade Campus Principal Dr. Greg Axelson initiated a friendly takeover of CHS9 Teacher Reyna Conger's eighth-period Spanish II class to teach a lesson in verb conjugation. The takeover was the first of two for two CHS9 teachers after several entered in a drawing to have Dr. Axelson teach one of their classes. "Mid-October is when the year starts to settle in, and teachers may be feeling tired," Dr. Axelson said. "I thought this would be a fun way to lend some support to our teachers and also engage with the kids" While the freshman learned about common "boot verbs" and some of the tricker conjugations, Conger was able to spend the period grading recent projects outside the classroom. Dr. Axelson plans to teach a biology lesson sometime in the next few days and potentially hold another drawing later in the year.

Performances begin at 7 p.m. each night in the CHS9 Auditorium at 1301 Wrangler Circle. Park in the North facing lot off Wrangler Drive. 🌟 While attendance is important, the health of our students and schools comes first. 🌟 If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them home. Allowing a child with a fever to attend school can increase the risk of spreading illness to classmates and teachers, affecting everyone's well-being. Let's prioritize health and safety to maintain a positive learning environment for all. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! #CoppellISD #HealthFirst #AttendanceMatters #StayHomeWhenSick #HealthyLearning 🏫💙

Seniors at New Tech High @ Coppell recently participated in the school’s annual Senior Charity Showcase, which highlights the Project-Based Learning happening at the school. At the event, students showcased their research on various charities and presented their findings to evaluators, including district administrators, CISD Trustees and community members. As part of the project, students explored each charity's mission, purpose, reach, financials, and other critical data, compiling this information into both verbal and visual presentations. Teams also developed strategies to engage the New Tech community in fundraising initiatives for the chosen charity. Each team member delivered an individual pitch to the evaluators, honing their public speaking, research and analytical skills. This project strengthens students' abilities to analyze real-world organizations and equips them with valuable skills for future careers, where research, communication and presentation expertise are key.
